Notes on Melvyn Jeremiah's Badge

When I was first granted my arms in 1994 I did not ask for the grant to be garnished with a badge and standard. At the time I foresaw that I would be leaving the country before long and I did not want the exercise of producing the arms to be any longer than absolutely necessary. In any case I did not see that I would be likely to need a badge and standard.

At least so far as the badge is concerned, I have changed my mind. There are occasions when the full achievement is a bit too much and the simple shield a bit too little for purpose. I therefore asked the noted heraldic artist and friend John Ferguson to paint a badge for me consisting of the shield encircled by a strap of the Order of the Bath. He did so, and the result is reproduced below.
